The main theme of the Ninth Pacific Asia Conference
on Information Systems (PACIS-2005) will focus on the roles, functions
and impacts of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) on
creating sustainable value; the later can be measured by a variety of
performance indicators such as customer satisfaction, ROI, lower costs
and higher revenues through value chains, networks and outsourcing. As
I.T. represents a major investment for many firms in the Asia Pacific
region, we invite researchers in the MIS community to study I.T. as the
enabler of value creation in both brick-and-mortars and e-businesses.
Bangkok is undoubtedly an ideal venue for this research theme as Thailand
has long recognized that I.T. is a driving force behind the creation
of the global society where knowledge is a denominator for achieving
efficient, equitable, and sustainable development.
